Poker is a card game where players wager money on the outcome of their hands. The winner is the player who holds the best hand. The game has many variants, but a standard hand comprises five cards.
Poker Rules:
In a poker game, each round of betting is over once every player has called or folded (called a “call”). When betting, players can raise by saying “raise,” call by saying “call,” or fold by saying “fold.” If a player chooses to fold, he or she gives up all the money in the pot.
Bluffing:
When a player does not have a good hand, they may try to bluff by raising their bet. Those who bluff successfully usually win, as they make other players think they have a strong hand when they do not.
Check:
In some variations of poker, a player can say “check” during a betting round if they do not want to bet any further. When another player raises the bet, however, all other players must call or fold.
Aggressive betting:
A player can increase the size of poker pots by aggressively betting. This makes other players fold to premium opening hands, and gives you the opportunity to take down monster pots.
